TechCare TENS Unit Review

I have been given this product as part of a product review the rough the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company.

So a little background on me and my conditions, I suffer from Fibromyalgia and chronic muscle spasms due to a car accident that I was in a couple years ago. I also get spasms in my neck prior to a migraine. Because of that I have to take medicine most days of the week to keep the spasms under control.

I started using my TENS Unit when my neck would start to spasm before a migraine and during a migraine it made it more tolerable. Though I’m not sure if this would be true for others but I would recommend giving it a shot. I noticed that using it regularly not just while I’m in pain would result in future spasms not being as terrible as they usually are. And I also had to take my medication less when I used it regularly.

As for the unit itself I like how small and portable it is, I can easily just put it in my pocket and go about my daily activities. It’s somewhere around the size of a small flip phone. The cords are long enough that it’s not going to inhibit your movement and they’re easy to hide under clothes if they need to be. And the controls and settings are easy to use it has a very simple list of choices. The battery life is really good for such a small device, I charge my unit once a week but it depends on how much you use it.

Also when you first open the box and take everything out, it comes with a list of places to put the pads for specific types of pain. There was also a diagram to go along with the places where the pads go. Some of it was written in what I think is Chinese but Chinese isn’t my strong suit. I         went with more of a ‘just stick the pads where it hurts’ approach and it worked just fine. I’ve never done much looking into Chinese medicine so it could work better, I’m not sure. I followed the diagram a couple of times and it didn’t feel any different than just putting it exactly where it hurts.

Your unit will also come with two different kinds of wires. One set of wires will be so you can use all four pads at one time. The other will let you use two pads at once and it will have a plastic piece so you can stick the pads to it for storage. Definitely follow the directions and clean and dry your skin before you apply the pads to your skin they’ll last longer. But in general the pads last a fairly long time as long as you clean your skin.

But overall I really like this product; it has helped me breakaway from some of medication if that makes sense. I will definitely continue to use it and recommend it to my friends that are dealing with chronic pain.
