Blogmas Day 3: What I'm Reading, Watching and Listening to

Welcome to Blogmas Day 3! I hope everyone is having luck with either starting or finishing any Christmas shopping you have to do. And again I might be of some help in this department once again. Today will be some recommendations for reading, music and tv shows. I haven’t really done a post like this before so just trust me on this adventure of recommendations.

Reading

So being chronically ill as I am, has left me with a rather large chunk of time that I spend reading. Reading is really important to me because it gives me a chance to live a different life. Reading is living in a character’s shoes, feeling what they feel, experiencing their adventures; it’s a great distraction from our own lives.

1.     Warcross by Marie Lu
It’s a fantastic, super futuristic book that will suck you in from page one. If you’re already a fan of Marie Lu then you’re in for another wild ride that won’t disappoint. There are plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing throughout the whole book. I highly suggest giving it a read; this is definitely one of my top books for 2017.

2.     Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh
I have to admit this book kind of made me think a bit of the movie Mulan. So if you liked Mulan, you’ll definitely enjoy this book. Plenty of character growth and mystery throughout this book, I think I’m going to read this book again, the second book comes out in 2018. Plenty of headstrong characters and political issues throughout the book.

3.     Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
Another strong female main character, if you’ve read Throne of Glass, you’ll note that the beginnings are kind of similar. Right now I’m on the last book of this series and I haven’t been disappointed at all. It’s another book that sucks you in and doesn’t let you go until the very last page. This is a very imaginative world; the characters will keep you guessing the whole way through.

Listening

I haven’t listened to too much new music this year; I’ve mostly been listening to old favorites. Who knows maybe you haven’t heard of some of my favorites before.

1.     Praytell
This is my number one new find of the year; It’s an alternative band I heard about from The Frey Life on Youtube. Right now you can only listen to a few songs that they’ve done on Youtube but they do have two singles out on iTunes. One is called ‘Better Together’ and I’m entirely positive it will make you think of your significant other. And their second song is their version of Silent Night.

2.     Eva Under Fire
They’re a rock band; I first discovered them on Facebook. I watched a music video for one of their songs and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. The song is ‘Good Morning Misery’; it made me think of my friend that I lost in a car accident.

3.     Skillet’s newer album ‘Unleashed’
I love the whole album, it’s upbeat and something I listen to when I need that little music pick me up.

Watching

1.     Viking’s
It’s on the History channel, I know it’s not exactly the most historically accurate tv show but I mainly using it as a filler for Game of Thrones. If you aren’t bothered by shows being extremely historically accurate, and like Game of Thrones there’s a good chance you might like this show. Season 5 just started last week and it looks like it’s full of conflict and I cant wait to watch it all.

2.     Game of Thrones
I watched it from the beginning clear through to the latest season out on DVD. I’m really excited to watch the next season that’s coming out on DVD, it comes out on the 12th and I really hope I’m getting it for Christmas.

3.     The Ranch
It’s one of Netflix’s shows, even if it doesn’t sound like something you would enjoy, try watching it anyway. I didn’t think I’d like it but it’s actually one of my favorite shows on Netflix and it’s always good for when you need a laugh.
