Blogmas Day 5: What's in my To Be Read Pile?
Welcome to Blogmas Day 5! All you bookworms out there this post is for you! Today I’ll be talking about all the books that I have in my To Be Read Pile. While it’s no longer a physical pile of books next to my bed, my ever growing list is slowly taking on the life of it’s own on my Kindle app. I won’t be listing every book because that would honestly take way too long, so I’m just going to put them in the order that I’m most likely going to read them in.
Some of these books also aren’t from this year, I really
just get on Amazon and look at books that are recommended for me. You’ll see
common themes but I think every book should be given a chance. But if you have
been keeping an eye on the newly released books this year you have to admit
this has been a great year. And you’d think with me getting sicker that I’d be
reading more, but really I mostly sleep, I’m like a Koala. So let’s get this
thing started!
(All Amazon links are affiliate links meaning I will make a
little money from your purchase, but it’s at no extra cost to you.)
1.
Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass Series) by Sarah J. Maas
Tower of Dawn is the 6th
installment of the Throne of Glass Series. Don’t look up T.o.D first if you
haven’t read the series yet. Sorry I can’t elaborate more but it would give
away sooo many spoilers, and I don’t want you guys to hate me. (Trust me you
would.) So if you’ve never read the Throne of Glass series check out the first
book! I promise this series will not disappoint. If you've already read the first five books you can get Tower of Dawn here. If you have no idea what this series is check out the first book Throne of Glass here.
2.
This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada
This sounds like a really interesting concept
for a book. People can control their DNA. And there’s this plague the main
character’s father is trying to cure. But he dies, so it’s like your pretty
good futuristic novel with a touch of military aspect. This is the first book
in this series so I have no idea what to expect from this author so we’ll see,
but I have high hopes for this novel. Get This Mortal Coil here.
So if you’ve read The Selection and or the
Throne of Glass it’s supposed to be similar to those books. We have your usual
magic, forbidden love and some other intriguing bits.
4.
Frostblood by Elly Blake
So this is something a little different for
me to be reading, it’s a book with a class system. I haven’t really read many
books with a class system, I’ve read maybe one book and I ended up not liking
it very much so I stopped reading it. I’m hoping that this book turns out
better. Rebels are working to overthrow a King, people are captured and forced
to fight because they are a different ‘type’ of people than the ruling class. Get Frostblood here.
5.
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
In order to save her brother the main
character spies for rebels inside a military academy. You can’t defy the Empire
because defiance is met with death. This is probably my most read kind of book,
spies, rebels and things like that if you haven’t been able to tell by now. Get An Ember in the Ashes here.
I might’ve just done a horrendous job of
trying to make these books sound appealing when I haven’t read them and I’m
sorry, never done a post like this before but it was worth a shot. With most of
these, (except Tower of Dawn) I honestly based my interest on what the cover
looks like. Yeah that may seem a bit shallow but honestly that’s how I make my
choices. I’ve actually discovered a lot of books that were self published, or
published in a non traditional manner that were actually really good and I
noticed them because they had really cool covers that grab your attention.
I hope I’ve given you guys a couple ideas for
your next read! And a lot of these either are a series or they will so if you’re
looking for a lot of long series, especially the Throne of Glass series, these
appear to be a good bet. Happy reading my friends!
